The gospel of Jesus Christ is our only hope.

As a church we exist to know Jesus and make him known in Coffeyville and beyond.

At First Baptist Church, Jesus and the gospel of grace is at the heartbeat of everything we do.

However, it’s not enough to say “we believe in Jesus,” or “we believe in the Bible,” without answering the questions, “What do we believe about Jesus?” and “What do we believe that the Bible specifically teaches?” Having a high view of theology and doctrine helps us answer these questions so that we can know and love God more fully, and love others as God has loved us first.

What to expect on Sunday…

Real Jesus.

We preach Jesus from the Bible.

While you will learn some good things like historical background on the text, how to grow in your relationships or vocation, none of those are the primary purpose of preaching. Without Jesus, none of those things matter. Since Jesus is what we all need more than anything, and since the Bible is all about Him, we preach Jesus from the Bible every Sunday.

Real People.

We are honest with ourselves and others.

Authenticity demands living and loving in light of God’s gospel of grace – even when it’s hard. Loving the Lord with all that we are means that we seek to be honest before the world and each other, humbly recognizing our own failures yet leaning in faith toward becoming passionate, healthy followers of Jesus.

Real Life.

We believe God wants use us in tangible ways, both in word and deed.

We believe the local church should be a safe place to be known and the best place to put faith into action. We seek to actively engage our world to purposely serve the needs of our community in real and relevant ways so that the gospel can be presented through our words and lives.
